'Curse of Lembit' strikes again.

I knew it was bad news as soon as I heard about it. My first reaction was, Oh No, a new Welsh Star named Rhydian Roberts about to be born by winning the X Factor - and Lembit Opik decides to back him. Why couldn't he have backed someone else? The consequences were inevitable.
We all just knew that the 'Curse of Lembit' would strike again. First there was total support for Charles Kennedy (he went two days later) - then for Mark Oaten (which lasted one day) - and then for Simon Hughes ( who's chances of winning went after two days). And every time, it was the Montgomeryshire MP who was there on the shoulder, and in the camara shots. There were no political endorsements then until he gave his full backing to Ming Campbell, which cooked Ming's goose almost immediately. I really am wondering whether Nick Clegg can possibly win the Lib Dem leadership on Tuesday, with Lembit Opik backing him. Clegg was in an almost unassailable position before he received this most unwelcome of endorsement - and now its reported to be a tight squeeze. Inevitably, Rhydian went down to defeat at the hands of Leon Jackson tonight. Yet again the'Curse' has struck.

How can it be? Rhydian was not only the most talented but also the best commercial prospect.

But then you have to admit that Leon nailed it tonight - his first great performance of the whole contest.

nw - He won it with the quivering lip when clips of his Scottish family and his friends backing him were shown. Personally, I cannot stand that sort of stuff - but Blair showed us that it delivers the votes.

We should be glad that Lembit is not standing himself - now that would be the kiss of death for the LibDems!! On the other hand.................

anon - I suddenly had a very nasty thought. Perhaps he'll tip me to win Montgomeryshire. Surely he wouldn't play that dirty!!

No, O'Prick is way to arrogant to back you Glyn. He's convinced that he's not doing anything wrong. Anon mentions babubles......What about the awful picture of him on the dance floor with his barely clad partner! Boy does water find it's own level! How could anyone vote for this car crash idiot???? Don't worry, he's backing himself to win, so in other words, you'll sail through to victory. Roll on the election and the chance for the people of Mont to get rid of Idiot and have a man worthy of them and the area in Westminster
