Surely not my good mate, Huw as well.

I really like Huw Roberts - even if I could never describe him as a political soulmate. If there was one man with close links to the heart of the Labour Party in Wales that I'd trust to be straight, it would be Huw. I knew that he had been working with Peter Hain in his campaign to be Deputy Leader of the Labour Party. Nothing wrong with that. Somebody had to do it. But I would never have expected Huw to be fingered by Guido Fawkes as being involved in 'Donargate'. But that is what Guido has just done. Mr Fawkes has such an impressive record on this that I'd expect the main media to be after this like a pig after a truffle. It might be that there is a Welsh angle on this now. I really hope that this is a wild Guido goose chase. Oh, where's it all going to end.

There's just got to be a silver cloud somewhere in this for Labour. If Brown could silver-surf his way out of the Labour party for good, that would be a good start. In 10cc lingo, Go! "For arts sake."

Let's hope the men in Labour black suits (and red tie) push Brown into exile the rest of his days.

Brown thought he could do a better job than Blair, how wrong he was.

The sooner he goes the better for Labour and the nation.

Sorry, but Gordon Brown's policies are ruining the UK, he's all smoke and mirrors, says one thing and does the exact opposite.

Brown's handling of the military being one obvious example; his penchant for stealthy taxes another, his appointment of a part-time Minister of Defense (Des Browne) was another sure sign that Gordon Brown is not "fit for purpose".

But laws are for little people, not for the likes of our leaders and betters. No government in history has imposed more legislation on us but they are exempt from them.Hain will regret only the breach of the eleventh commandment-thou shalt not get found out.

....could this be the same Labour party Huw Roberts who now heads the Royal Mail/Post Office in Wales? The same Labour party Huw Roberts who has put on "hold" any post office closures until after the May 2008 local elections so Labour don't get the brunt of such Post Office closures?....people's memories will not be that short Huw.

What are the chances of that campaign team working again? They'll probably try and blame some spotty teenager who was only employed for a few hours a week.

christopher - Ironically, bearing in mind how he has tried to present himself, Gordon Brown has been undone (and perhaps finished as a PM) by 'spin'. Oh, how BVlair must be laughing.

Penlan - I alway's had a regard for Peter Hain - until he and Rhodri pushed through the ban on duel candidacy for Assembly elections. they both polluted their reputations for ever by doing that. So i have no sympathy at all.

anons - it is indeed the same Huw Roberts, though I've only read it on Guido's so far. Last night, the BBC were referring to a 'public relations' person who had not charged Peter Hain the £1,300 it had cost to put on some fund raising event. All I can say is that Huw is a friend of mine and is a thouroughly good guy. I would surprised if it turns out that he has done anything amiss.

Miss wagstaff - for what its worth, I don't think Huw Roberts would do that. I do tend to believe in my friends!

Was thinking more of Peter Hain.

Is it “just me” or is Gordon Brown’s face the result of a some fast action with a kitchen rolling pin or the result of too many hits from under-sea icebergs of the donor-gate variety? His face is looking like a flying collection of bumps, bruises and red-eye. Poor man. He needs a long – a very long – exit out of politics.
