More Rainbow Coalition talk.

I see that a lot of people, bloggers inc, are abstaining from any 'coalition talk' until after May 3rd. I'd sort of decided along the same lines. Don't want voters thinking I have become obsessed - not with this anyway. So I was on an NFU 'hustings' panel in Montgomeryshire tonight with Mick Bates, Plaid's David Thomas and Ukip's Bruce Lawson when up jumps a questioner - "Have you boys thought of forming a 'Rainbow Coalition' to force Labour into opposition". And then another joined in. And then another. Not sure that Mick and David knew quite how to handle this - especially when I turned to them both and, smiling engagingly said how much I admired them both and that I thought we could make a very good team who could govern Wales much better than a Labour led coalition. And I didn't want to see Labour propped up by another party. And then, blimey, Bruce from Ukip wanted to join in as well with the two AMs he expects to have after May 3rd. Its amazing what you can achieve with a bit of sweet talk. All right, so I had a job to keep a straight face. But the reality is that there are a hell of a lot of people out there who think it could work. Its only the politicians who lack the b***s and the vision.

I was down in the local Watering hole yesterday with a group of nationalist orientated friends.

Vaughan's coalition comments proved to be a contentious subject of debate. One of the crowd was ranting against the iniquity of any thought of a Plaid / Tory coalition because the Tory's were all English B**ards.

When I intervened to suggest that Glyn Davies AM couldn't be included in that discription he retoted That's different - if Glyn Davies was up for First Minister all of Wales would support him!!!

The whole "not serving under a Tory AM" is irrelevant. The First Minister has to win a vote of confidence, and the only person both Tories and Plaid would support to work under -apart from yourself of course, Glyn- is DEL boy

According to the Western Mail poll a hell of a lot more favour some sort of deal involving Labour.

Meanwhile back in the real world. A young person I know tried this week to register with a doctor in Cardiff only to be informed that they were not taking any more patients. What's the point of free prescriptions if you have can't see a doctor in Wales's capital city? Any answers Glyn.

No good blaming us for the diverting of mega millions from health services to provide free prescriptions - we opposed it. Labour (full support of Plaid) drove that one through. Maximise money going to the front line is what we think.

I like the sound of Alwyn's friends (one of them anyway) and I fully except blamerbell that it is difficult to break up a one-party state (which Wales effectively is). It is only when there is a sensible debate with an audience about Assembly policy that makes it seem essential to have a non-Labour option on the table. (I don't mean these soundbite televised hustings which are more about entertainment than serious politics. Non-Labour simply doesn't occur to people and responses are often based on what has been realistic in the past.

But the Tories also need to take heed of yesterday's comments in the Times.

There is another good article in the Spectator supporting a Plaid-Tory coalition:-

Thanks Glyn but I knew perfectly well how to take it! Point is not all your colleagues are of your opinion or, more importantly perhaps, of your spirit.

Labour candidate absent again from WI Milk Forum tonight. They'll get a hammering here.

Its all probably a bit academic now - until next Friday.

How did you ever let Darren Millar become a candidate? The Tories will be hammered by everyone because of his comments.
