Bloggers in competition.

I see that there's competition amongst bloggers. I've known that there has been a bit of tension between Tim Montgomery and Iain Dale for top Tory blog - but I didn't know about it in Wales. Blamerbell has started compiling a league table based on something called a 'technorati' ranking which puts his blog at number 2. This word, 'technorati' could be made up. And then there are comments from sanddef and Bethan that makes it clear there is a battle for the top spot, which is currently occupied by Peter Black.

This very all very worrying for me, because I seem to be dropping down this league. And Eaglestone didn't like my dead donkey story. I immediately feel my competetive hackles rising. I can't help it. But I'm not sure what I can do about it. Should I go for hits, visits or links. Actually I'm rather ashamed to say that I'm not sure what the difference is. And I've not the slightest how to measure these things. And I thought it was all just a bit of fun.

Blammerbell's table is frankly rubbish, for the following reasons:

1. It relies on links, not on visits
2. Technorati is as Technorati does
3. Blamerbell puts himself at number 2 (no objective impartiality!)
4. Im not on it, ergo it must be naff

P.S. Who or what is this "Eaglestone"?
;-)

I am with you on this Glyn. This league table thing is a load of nonsense. Don't let it destroy the fun of blogging.

I was merely commenting in a fun manner. I'm not serious about it at all! Carry on blogging as usual and don't give Blamerbell too much coverage otherwise he'll be at the top next time round, and we wouldn't want that!

As someone once described as Labour's 45th top blogger (!)- or some similarly ranked position- I am all for typing away with our mixture of thoughts, comments and reactions and not worrying too much about the links, hyperlinks and rankings.

ps the donkey story was okay, but just a bit long a read for not enough return on the smiles barometer.

Its too late my friends. I will be asking Phill, who runs my office to 'prepare a strategy' next week. I do need to add a lot of sites to my sidebar though (not sure if this is the right terminology or a good tactic). I read a lot of them from Peter's and Iain Dale's.

I fully expect Arsembly and Blamerbell to take over the top spots.

Eaglestone is unusual - in that he is Labour, but infected by a spark of ability to think for himself - like Leighton Andrews. I never miss a chance to damage Leighton's career.

You would say that, you're number one. I hate you.

Spot on.

But I also did this back in January, and there were no complaints then.

It is, as much as anything else, testament to the growing strength of the Welsh blogosphere. Yourself and Peter Black deserve enormous credit for that.

How are those easter Sunday grapes tasting. A little sour, no?:)

Speaking of Easter bunnies rather than grapes - I wanted to post a caption competition of a labrador with a pair of rabbit's ears in its mouth last week and call it Easter bunny. But Phill stopped me. Said the animal rights people would be upset. And I never argue with Phill.

Upsetting animal rights people is a laudible activity.

Why don't you write something about the way the Badger Report undermines the claims in the Badger Trust press release?

Too big a job for me on my won today.
