Watched the two candidates for the leadership of the Welsh Liberal Democrats on Dragon's Eye tonight. Jenny
Randerson and
Kirsty Williams were desperately trying to persuade us that they were the best of friends, who are involved in a contest of ideas. But its the body language that does it for me. I thought there was a smouldering resentment, and a genuine antipathy between them. Whichever of them wins is going to have a rather split and unhappy team of five behind them.

I thinks it wider than that Glyn , my Mr keyholeman at the Assembly has heard that most of the other parties in the Bay are so hoping that Jenny Randerson takes it. Kirsty is not seen as a robust experienced politician
... and the fact that the National Assembly Lib-Dem 'team' is so small just adds combustibility/oxygen to the mix, and with lighter fuel/ignition source (metaphorically speaking) in the form of Peter Black …
vm - I thought it was best if I held back from nominating my favoured candidate. Didn't think it would help her. Jenny's main problem is that Lembit Opik has declared his support for her!!
Christopher - Bitching and backbiting is not unusual in the Assembly, in my experience. Looks as if its going to carry on in the Lib Dems. I predict six seats next time around as well.
The phrase 'two bald men fighting over a comb' springs to my mind...
I mean, it is not as if they will be getting into 'government', so what is the point ??
Whoever gets in, are they likely to win many more votes ? And if they do, they will probably fluff up the chance to go into coalition, so why bother ??
